Route 5-2 Guide — Counter Uptime Under Pressure
Route 5-2 is a consistency test: you can have the “right counters” and still lose if your counters aren’t applied where they matter. The goal is counter uptime—keep enemies inside your kill zone long enough for the counter role to work.
TL;DR: Consistency Plan
Build one real choke: Do not split your defense.
Vs Shields: Use shield pressure (multi-hit/fast attacks); don't rely on slow heavy hitters.
Vs Regen: Increase time-on-target (permaslow) + add status pressure (burn/poison).
Vs Resist: If slow/stun fails, pivot to raw damage / type swap plan.
1. "Uptime" Placement Rules
Why Route 5-2 wipes happen:
- Control belongs at the choke, not “somewhere it hits occasionally.”
- Counters belong before the dangerous section, not after leaks begin.
- "Time on target" > burst, especially vs regen/shields.
2. If the wall is Shields
What to do when health bars feel protected or layered.
Swap IN
- Multi-hit / Fast Attack units (shred layers).
Swap OUT
- Slow heavy hitters that "overkill" too late.
- Mistake to avoid: Snipers vs multi-layer shields (bad matchup).
3. If the wall is Regen
What to do when boss HP goes back up or stalls feel worse.
Swap IN
- Status Pressure (burn/poison) to offset healing.
- Permaslow to keep them in range longer.
Strategy
- Tighten your kill zone. Don't leave long gaps where they can heal freely.
4. If Control "Does Nothing" (Resistance)
When slow/stun/burn/poison appears ineffective.
Pivot Plan
Stop forcing status; pivot to raw damage.Type Swap
If terrain/map allows, swap elemental types rather than rebuilding everything.5. Mini Swap Checklist
