Resistances (Mechanics & Counters)
When your main strategy hits a brick wall, it's usually Resistance. Learn how to spot it and pivot your team instantly.
What it means
Some enemies have high resistance or total immunity to specific damage types or status effects (Poison, Burn, Slow, Stun).
This is the game's way of forcing you to vary your strategy. A "one-trick pony" team will eventually face a hard counter.
Symptoms
- "Control doesn't slow the pack": Enemies are running at full speed despite your Slows.
- "Status pressure feels invisible": Health bars aren't ticking down between hits.
- "Zero Damage Hits": You see your attacks connecting but no health is lost.
Role Solutions
Don't Rely on One Trick
Never build a team that deals 100% of its damage via Status Effects. Always have direct Physical/Special DPS as a backup Plan A.
The Utility Slot
Use your flexible 4th or 5th slot to bring the counter. If they resist Physical, bring Special. If they resist Status, bring Raw DPS.
Swap Patterns
The "Pivot" Strategy
You don't need to sell your whole team. Maintain a Core of 2-4 units that work well generally.
- Scenario A: Enemy resists Poison. Swap Poison Support → Physical DPS.
- Scenario B: Enemy resists Slow/CC. Swap Control Unit → Burst Damage (kill them before they reach the end).
