Regeneration (Mechanics & Counters)
Nothing is more frustrating than watching an enemy undo all your damage. Learn how to maximize uptime and pressure to stop the healing.
What it is
Regeneration allows enemies to recover a percentage of their health over time. The key threat is that if they simply walk out of your range ("break contact"), they will undo your hard work.
Why stalling fails
Standard "stall" strategies (just blocking enemies without damage) backfire here. Giving a regenerating enemy more time alive without damaging them just invites them to return to full health.
Counter Roles
- Uptime Booster: Units with Slow or Stun are vital. They keep the enemy in the damage zone longer.
- Pressure Dealer: Units that apply Poison or Burn ensure the enemy takes damage even when moving between your towers.
Positioning Strategy
You must create a "Continuous Kill Zone".
- Focus your main firepower on the longest straightaway.
- Avoid spreading units too thin ("gapped" defense), as gaps allow regen.
- Place your status appliers (Poison/Burn) early so the DOT ticks for the full track length.
Swap Triggers
When to pivot your team:
- "Not dying but always taking damage": If you see health bars yo-yoing (going down then up), you lack Burst or Pressure. Add a Poison unit.
- Leaking at 5% HP: If enemies survive with a sliver of health, you need more Range/Coverage (or a better Slow) to finish them.
